Block of the Month - Applique Vintage

Re-imagined in bright new colors by Becky Lindquist, you'll love making this version of Sunbonnet Sue. You'll follow Sue as she goes about her daily chores with 12 delightful Sunbonnet Sue blocks. Made from a variety of gorgeous fabrics, these blocks are suitable for both traditional or fusible web applique methods. Each month you'll receive the pattern, fabric, and floss you need to create a 12" block. The background of this Sue is Tranquility Green to give it a more modern look. In addition to the fabric and pattern, the fusible web and perle cotton needed to complete each block is included in each month's packet. A Finishing Kit to turn it into a gorgeous quilt is available at the end of the program. This block of the month quilt takes you back to a delightful boyhood summer spent on the farm. Inspired by a trip to her husband’s childhood home, designer Roxy Burgard created 14 individual 12" quilt blocks depicting a variety of scenes around the farm. A large center panel features the barn with a fence, silo and sun. The quilt can be made using traditional or fusible web applique. Fourteen monthly kits contain the fabric you need to make a quilt block. The Middle Panel Kit is sent in the 15th month, and the Finishing Kit of Sashing, Borders, and Binding is sent in the 16th month. Completed of the quilt is  72" x 90". First published in the 1930s, The Alphabet Quilt was part of the Nancy Page quilt club. Now in the public domain, it remains a popular quilt to make for a special little one. Written by Florence Laganke, with all illustrations by Ann Kerven, our program gives you the patterns in four sizes (9", 6", 4.5" and 3" blocks), so you can choose the size you like best. Each month, you receive the fabric you need to create two of the alphabet blocks featured. You also receive the minutes of the Nancy Page Club that appeared with each block in the original series. Reminiscent of traditional applique samplers from the 19th Century, our Memories of Old Oregon Block of the Month commemorates early Oregon landmarks and towns. There are 24 applique patterns, in the traditional 19th century colors of red and green, each of which can be made using traditional or fusible web applique. Each month, you receive the pattern and fabric needed to create one 12" quilt block, plus a mini-history about the town or landmark for which it was named.
